T47. The old Fraser's Hill

I rarely would write on a rather old event or occasion.  This time I give it exception because I am planning on coming back to this OLD FRASER'S  HILL and see what have changed.  It is not that I am expecting or wanting any change but you never know.
As usual, old habit hard to die, we start from the map.  Fraser's hill is located at the border of Selangor and Pahang.  There are two ways you can climb up the hill, either from Kuala Kubu Baru on the Selangor side, or from Raub on the Pahang side.
The name Fraser's hill is originated from a Scottish named Louis James Fraser, who prospected gold in the 1890.  Instead of finding gold, he found tin.

With the height of 1300 meter, roughly twice the height of Gunung Mat Cincang in Langkawi, the temperature hovers around 20 C, pleasant enough for the British personnel stationed in Kuala Lumpur to use as a retreat or weekend getaway.

The activities at Fraser's hill includes jungle trekking, bird watching, and golfing.  There are 8 trails you can choose from a very modest 15 minute walk to a full-day Pine Trail to Pine Tree Hill.  I was with my kid at that time so we chosed the simple Remmant trail.

Jeriau waterfall is located 4km from the Fraser's hill clock tower, so you have to drive to the entrance gate and walk for about ten minutes before reaching the waterfall.

It was a very pleasant and full with activities.  For a 2 day 1 night trip Fraser's hill is just right for family weekend activities.
Looking forward to see if everything is still in tact.

T46. Into the woods, Sungai Lembing

Sungai Lembing was originally a tin mining town, in fact one of the biggest in the world.  But now this town is very much left behind even though it used to be called El Dorado of the east.
But we are not here to see the mining town, we want to see the woods.....I mean we want to be jungle people for a brief.  Any takers?
The distance from Kuantan city is about 43 km or roughly 27 km from the exit of East Coast Highway (LPT) but of course the road is narrow and in part nearing the waterfall it is purely gravel and dusty.  Luckily there was no rain that day.
Nice road, with mist

Narrower road

Into the dust and dirt.

Standing stone.

Another one, done by ...............

Kita makan duluuuuu........
Better to swim with empty stomach?

Swim or eat?

Decision made.  Eat la.
I was surprised when told that there is a hot spring nearby.  I couldn't figure out where it come from.  Somehow, I was thinking the jot spring would be an elegant addition to the nature of this place.
Further into the woods.

And find hot spring.
I was a little disappointed to find that this hot spring is too little and unimpressive, so I have to scrap my plan of taking a bath in the pool.
As usual, pose first.

To dip into or not?

The hot spring is not too hot. Just suam suam kuku.

Walking back.  Where is the 4wd?

Deer farm.

Typical and new house for indigenous folks.
On the way back, we took a detour just after the deer farm and found some campers occupying flat gravel Kuantan river bank.  At this location, the river looks narrow and tame but during monsoon season, the whole area of the flat bank completely flooded making the river size to increase at least five times.
New and more exciting ground.

Try my luck here, 1,  2, ......... That's it?
Again its time to say bye bye, so we ate some ice cream..........
