T12. NAMI ISLAND winter

Nami Island is located in the Namiseom region and the island is right in the middle of a lake.  There are a number of methods we can reach the jetty with ferry going to the island.
Map of the island.
You can go by shuttle bus, city bus, subway, or Intercity Train Express (ITX). We didn't book bus seats in advance so when we mentioned to Mr. Park that we are going to Nami Island, he helped us to book for a place in the shuttle bus but it was fully booked.  However, he suggested that we take the ITX train, linking from Yongsan station in Seoul to Gapyeong station. In order to ride the ITX, tickets booking is required, just like when we wanted to ride Korea Train Express (KTX) service.  The tickets can be booked at any KORAIL station but I prefer to book at Seoul Station.

ITX interior.

Even though tickets can be booked at any KORAIL station, ITX to Nami Island is only departing from Yongsan station.

The snow along the tracks.
Check out this video of the view from the ITX along the Yongsan - Gapyeong route.  Credit to my wife.....huhu.

As we step out from the ITX, we were greeted once again with piles of snow.  So Nami is still covered with snow at this time, but not Seoul.

Gapyeong Station.
In order to go to the jetty, you can choose to take bus or taxi.  We decided to take the taxi that cost us 1000 WON one way, but we were charged 1300 WON.....why?????
What do you mean Immigration?
We were again surprise to see immigration sign when it is clear that we are still in South Korea.  Actually no passport or Visa is needed to cross into Nami Island, but tickets are required to be bought that cost 8,000 WON per head.  That is the VISA, i reckon.
The Visa, means ticket.

Ferry to Nami.
The ferry only took about five minutes to reach the island.  I could see only two ferries, which depart everytime the other one approaching the jetty.

View from the ferry.
We finally find ourselves in the middle of Nami Island, just like we see on internet.  There are too many photos and videos we took.  Some of the best are uploaded here.  Enjoy them.......

The most popular camera angle.

Masterpiece.

Trees have name tag.
Check out this video too. Credit again to my wife.

Book hut.  Good idea.

Nearly frozen pond.

Even upside down tree?

There was an igloo-building competition took place as well, so we 'hijack' one completed igloo and call our own, as if we can stand the cold.

Ice cube from where?

Welcome to my igloo.

Peace No War.

Frozen waterfall.

There is actually a musolla at Nami Island, just like what our friend had told us.  It is located in the Nami Library building.

This pillar is actually stack of books.
