T13. TAEJONGDAE RESORT PARK at BUSAN

After four days in Seoul, we moved back to Busan.  The process of going back to Busan is similar with the time we travelled from Busan to Seoul, by KTX.  This time we booked the tickets in advance, and we got the seating tickets.
With our transfer to Busan, there is no way we will see snow, but nevertheless the temperature is still cold, roughly around 8 degree Celcius, but can drop to about 2 degree at night.

First impression of BUSAN?
Crazy city, as havoc as Seoul but there is port, beaches, hills, shopping complexes.  We don't speak Korean, but somehow I have a feeling the way they speak is a little different, should I say, a bit more melodic, that's what I feel.

ANGEL HOTEL

We stayed at Angel Hotel in Busan.  We booked through AGODA http://www.agoda.com/
with the price of 165,000 WON per night.  This hotel is not easy to find, but my hint is to ask around.  Since Busan has many universities, and Angel Hotel is the area for young people to hangout, the chances are they understand English and are willing to help you find the place.
  • From Seomyeon subway station (Line 1 or 2), exit 2.

The entrance.

Exactly in front of the Hotel, just nice for us.

TAEJONGDAE  RESORT  PARK

The best transportation is by city bus since this park is located on the tip of South-East Korea, facing South of Japan.  The subway does not reach Taejongdae area because of its hilly and remote location.

  • Take subway line 1, Nampo-dong station, EXIT 6.  Take bus no. 8 or 30. Fare: 1200 WON.

The bus will go through the Busan port on your left, take few hilly roads and after about 30 minutes, it stop at Teojangdae, the last stop.  We were with some tourists in the bus so we didn't know where to get off, until we were shouted at by the driver, which probably means, "get off the bus you little ............".  So we get off the bus, and later on we saw the bus terminal on the left.  Thanks driver.

As we passed the entrance into the park, we saw on our right a tourist information centre.  We take a pamphlet and ask about the Danubi Train.  A very nice chap said it's up there and the cost is 15,000 WON per trip.............and he repeated that again.  My brain processed that and realised it is not the same as what is written on the pamphlet, but we considered him making mistake by putting an extra 0.

Don't take this one, its out-of-service.

Ahhh..its 1500 WON after all.
The train is coming.

The Observation Deck.
The train travels only around the park and it has 6 stops.  We got off at Observation deck, took some photos, had our lunch, and later on walk to the Yeongdo Lighthouse area.

What is that island?
Here are some of the photos around the observation deck.

Choi Ji-woo, the popular actress in the drama Winter Sonata is a Busanian (Busan folk).  There is a permanent exhibition of her film career on the second floor.

Am I that small?

Yeongdo Lighthouse

We walked to the next stop, the Yeongdo Lighthouse.  This is where the majority of tourist would want to spend their time.  We were shocked to see the stairs...............too many. We were already started to get tired but..... There is no regret though.  Check out these photos.

Yeongdo Lighthouse

Actually she is exhausted.

Really at the edge.  Try locate us.......

Masterpiece.
Let's go home la.
