t65 tram in kyoto?

is there a tram in japan?
the keifuku randen tram line could be the only remaining tram line in japan.  at least it is in kyoto.
i only realise it is a tram when all of a sudden a car waved onto the track causing the tram driver to honk.  i couldn't recall a train driver would need to do that.
the reason for us riding this tram is because we were heading to Toei Uzumasa Eigamura (movie studio village).

there a number of ways to go to the eigamura but we chose this means because of its uniqueness.
first, take a bus or Hankyu line to Omiya station.  the keifuku randen tram line is not easily visible but very much hidden behind a building with a big Coca Cola sign.  it took us quite a while to figure out the exact location.
one ride cost 210 yen, 20 yen less than taking a bus.  i think this tram has to compete with bus services thus the fare rate.

the tram coach is quite small and i can imagine the continuation of this service is purely for tourists usage.  maybe it is finding difficulty competing with other form of transportation.
gambatte randen tram!!
as we arrived at Uzumasa-Koryuji, the toei studio park is not visible.  we had to walk about 550 meter more before seeing the studio park building.
the write up on the studio park in the next entry.
