T20. SEMPORNA 2-DAYS 1-NIGHT

Semporna is located at the east coast of Sabah, East Malaysia, the closest point to South Philipine Islands.  Usually it spells in Malay as 'SEMPURNA', but nevertheless it holds the same meaning, PERFECT.  Eventhough it came out in the news recently for the wrong reason, I still feel the place called Semporna is exquisitely charming and tranquil.

It is about 90 km from Tawau to Semporna, so after we touched down at Tawau airport, the car that we booked online much earlier is already waiting for us.  Good service you guys from JAS TAWAU CAR RENTAL.  We got rather new Perodua MyVi. In the agreement I signed, I could see the remarks 'NO OFFROAD".  Why should I.

Once we reached Semporna, we checked into SIPADAN INN 2.
Why Inn 2?  Because there is another Sipadan Inn 1, located quite nearby, both at The Semporna Seafront Township, really fronting the sea.  The accommodation was booked through AGODA where normally you will get about 10 to 20% discounted price.

Looking out from Sipadan Inn 2

Just a walking distance away, you can see Dragon Inn.  Elaborated Inn where you can find a tourism centre, jetty to Sipadan Island, and also souvenirs shop.

I cannot help promoting this place.  We had a tremendous time here, we found seafood, sea, swim and they even have sea diving class.
This place is located at Kampung Tampi-Tampi, from Semporna town, drive back towards Tawau, turn left towards Kampung Tampi-Tampi and head towards the sea.

Walk towards the seafood restaurant.

Jump into the sea, just before you eat.

BUKIT TENGKORAK Archaeological Sites

Stairs to climb

Ahh sooo thirsty la
After the splashing at the Resort, it is time to climb a hill to dry up.  Nearby is a place called Bukit Tengkorak, or Skull Hill, located at Jalan Tampi-Tampi, about 10km south of Semporna town. It is about 600 feet above sea level, so imagine walking up those stairs.

Nice view from the mid-point. Worth the climb.

Bukit Tengkorak is a volcanic rock-shelter site. The hill slopes are littered with numerous pottery shards with various patterns dating 3,000 BP.  So we will try to find those leftover potteries if we have our energy left after those climb.

History lesson.
And finally we reached the top, without the elder brother who has given up.  Time to look for that potteries.

Found something!!!

Should I sell these?? $$$$

Time to descent.
